"The Economist" "Pessimism v progress"

Not a new thing, we have always rightfully been worrying about the impact of new technology (techno-pessimism). Besides understanding the benefits and shortcomings of new technology, the key is dialoging to ensure debate uncovers needs and leads to solutions. As an example, replacing horse-and-buggy with motor vehicles revealed safety shortcomings but incrementally new motor vehicle and road technology dramatically reduced car-related injury and death. Similar examples are abundant in all fields including medicine and information technology. Our concerns will be alleviated with balanced discussion and technology-driven solutions. "To be alive in the tech-obsessed 2020s is to be among the luckiest people who have ever lived". 2244 agrees!
