Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson stated that U.S. and China are strongly linked in economic terms and warned that even partial decoupling would “likely make the United States, China and the world more susceptible to financial crises.” Such a move, Paulson claims, would weaken “the U.S. as a global leader and hurt the competitiveness of American firms.” He suggest that Janet Yellen should “continue her communication with Vice Premier Liu aimed at "greater transparency, greater harmonization, and coordination of financial regulations and accounting principles.”
