Texas 6A High School Basketball-Wednesday evening January 28th 2026-West Lake Hills, Texas-A rematch of the "512" rivalry between Westlake and Austin was a cold weather rescheduled game on Al Bennett court at Westlake. Westlake prevailed at Austin back on December 20th 53-46 and followed that with a defensive battle 42-36 last evening. Intensive defense and some cold shooting led to a Westlake lead 11-7 after one quarter. Both teams likely suffered from ice-storm related disruptions of their practice routine. Westlake then nudged Austin 11-10 in the second quarter to lead 22-17 at the half. Austin pulled closer outscoring Westlake 13-9 to trail by one 31-30 after three quarters. The battle was on in the fourth quarter and Westlake closed out with an 11-6 run for the 42-36 win but it was closer than that with Austin pulling ahead momentarily at 34-32 with 4:54 remaining. Westlake went ahead for good 35-34 with 4:29 left. See many snapshots below.
