Texas 6A High School Football-Friday November 7th 2025. Westlake 7-2 and visiting Dripping Springs 8-1 came into the contest statistically close but with Westlake ranked 11th and Dripping Springs ranked 16th. Rushing 185 Y/G for Westlake and Dripping 132, Passing 198 Y/G for Westlake and Dripping 266, total yards 384 Y/G for Westlake and Dripping 399 Y/G and scoring average 43.9 for Westlake and Dripping 44.0 [Source MaxPreps]. Leading Dripping Springs offense has been #1 Jr QB Chase Ames, #2 Cooper Reid Sr. WR [6 Foot, 5 Inches], #3 James Montgomery Sr. WR [5 Foot, 9 Inches], #7 Merrick Bloomgren Sr. WR [6 Foot, 4 Inches] and #27 Jaceton Gotta Sr. RB. Image above shows Ames handing off to Jaceton Gotta with Reid and Bloomgren as receivers. The game was close, Westlake led 21-14 at the half, was tied at 28-28 at the end of Q3 but the Tigers outscored the Chaps 17-7 in the fourth quarter, went ahead for good 42-35 with 5:57 remaining in the fourth quarter and won going away 45-35. Along with the narrative, the Dripping Spring stars, mentioned above, did shine with Westlake often unable to hold Gotta to short gains and Ames completed passes to the tall receivers Reid and Bloomgren and to Montgomery with accuracy. Westlake had an interception in the first half by Mason Lastor and in the second half by Thompson Bennett. On offense Westlake had a running TD by Rees Wise, a passing TD Rees Wise to Lawson Grimes, a passing TD Rees Wise to Jack Newhouse, a running TD Rees Wise and a passing TD Rees Wise to Lawson Grimes. Westlake ends the regular season 7-3, 2-2 at home, and enter the playoffs as the second seed.
