Visiting Lake Travis Outplays Westlake Down-The-Stretch & Wins 43-42

Updated: Jan 18, 2023

Texas Boys High School Basketball-Westlake High School Tuesday January 17th 2023. "Lake Travis reacts to hard fought win on Westlake's Al Bennett Court." Westlake led at half, came out with smothering defense to widen the lead to 11 (4:19 left in 3rd Quarter) with great defensive transition. Then Lake Travis with great baseline and interior drives progressively narrowed the lead as Westlake became listless on offense under defensive pressure and was cold from the free-throw line. Still with 9:55 seconds remaining and trailing 42-43 Westlake had a chance to move ahead but #24 Blake Miri missed the front-end of a one and one. Lake Travis, strong on the defensive boards all night, rebounded the miss, were fouled and went to the line. They too missed the front end of a one and one that #10 Erik Seghers rebounded. After taking at time out with less than 5 seconds remaining, Westlake inbounded from the baseline giving it to #1 Gavin Paull who charged up the court only to miss a jumper just inside the free throw line. See below for Gavin's last second attempt and other snapshots. Score by Quarter 13-13, 22-18, 37-31, 42-43.
