Shichigahama (Seven Beaches) is a town in Miyagi Prefecture (Northwest Coast of Japan). "One of the largest shell mounds to be discovered in Japan is located at the Shichigahama Jomon History Museum. In early history the area was contested by various samurai clans. The town was damaged and at least 90 people died in a 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami (as high as 10 meters). More than 1,000 homes were destroyed or damaged beyond repair. (Wikipedia)
