Around Austin-Austin Classical Guitar-Saturday October 3rd 2026. Jorge Caballero amazed the 4:30 PM audience at "The Rosette." The Maestro opened with "Fantaisie" Op54bis by Fernando Sor with Matthew Hinsley accompanying also on Classical Guitar. A beautiful rendition highlighted by incredible tone and dynamic phrasing. Next he performed solo a World Premiere "Sonata" with three movements: Holding Patterns, Elegy, Ride or Die. The piece commissed by ACG was composed by Matthew Lyons, ended on this year's ACG's theme of friendship. We paraphrase Lyon's comments, living in this great era, our era-living in the moment and being grateful for the power and strength our friends bring. The work and performance were greeted with enthusiasm. Mr. Caballero, making his 10th annual appearance at ACG, ended with the Dvorak Masterpiece Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" from an arrangement by K. Yamashita. Each movement: Adagio, Largo, Scherzo and Allegro con fuoco was a highlight and remarkable for solo Classical Guitar. Standing Ovations. Jorge returns tomorrow at 4:30 presenting "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky as arranged also by K. Yamashita. The shows are streamed. See https://www.austinclassicalguitar.org for details.
