Hackberry Fin!

Around Austin-Last Thursday's storm that brought wind gusts "up to 50 mph" brought down two Southern Hackberry trees on the Fazio Foothill's course. Above, this mature Hackberry is behind the 17th Green. Another Hackberry of similar size was also uprooted along the left side of the 10th fairway. Taking 20-30 years to mature, Southern Hackberry trees can reach 50-60 feet and spread 30-50 feet. Their growth of 1-2 feet/year is facilitated by water availability, good soil quality and sunlight.
